PRACTICE WORKFLOW DECISIONS

exocad for Practices: ChairsideCAD vs DentalCAD Workflow Roles

Compare product roles, modules and delivery responsibilities without treating every exocad license as interchangeable.

Distinguish the named products

exocad positions ChairsideCAD for single-visit practice workflows and DentalCAD for restorative CAD including laboratory use. The ChairsideCAD page references release 3.1 Rijeka, optional modules, STL design output and dentalshare communication. The DentalCAD page separately describes core functions and add-on modules.

exocad states that ChairsideCAD uses subscription licensing and distinguishes it from permanent-license availability for DentalCAD. These product distinctions do not establish the terms of a reseller quote or the features on an existing seat. Ask for the exact entitlement record.

Match the product to the operator

Write down who will design and which tasks they are expected to perform. A clinician evaluating a guided practice workflow and a technician managing a broader lab process may need different demonstrations, training and production arrangements.

The operational advantage to investigate is fit with the work your team owns. Test whether the proposed operator can complete the intended exercise and identify dependencies without improvising. Do not use the breadth of a vendor’s catalogue as proof that a base license covers a complex case.

A configuration brief for the reseller

Keep the brief with the supplier’s written response. Record exceptions per task; do not replace the record with a generic statement that the setup is open.

Test exchange without assuming equivalence

If the intended partner needs to revise a design, test whether it receives the required editable context. If it only needs to manufacture, test the accepted output and governing requirements. A file that displays correctly may still be insufficient for the receiving task.

For a hypothetical practice retaining its production equipment but seeking design overflow, first validate the delivery format and revision loop. Record who makes changes, who reviews the returned result and whether a change invalidates a previous production approval.

Pristine’s exocad service scope does not by itself establish ChairsideCAD access or cross-product project compatibility. Louie must confirm the actual product, version, modules, permissions and receiving result before promising that route.

Review boundary

Technical review pending — unverified locally. Louie must validate the exact product/release, modules, licensed access, accepted inputs, revision ownership and receiving output before Pristine promises a system-specific workflow. Operational frameworks also need his review. No vendor affiliation, direct integration or clinical superiority is asserted.

Use authorized training records to test a proposed handoff. Preserve originals and distinguish an observed software step from design acceptance, manufacturing release and the responsible team’s clinical decisions.
