Inspect the selection and record separately
Confirm the current tooth, case revision and approved record. Identify where the selected line differs from the responsible team’s intended boundary. Review the relevant area from more than one view; do not infer a missing boundary from a convenient shape.
If the record itself does not establish the boundary, request clarification from the submitting team and hold the affected decision. A detection or repair tool does not independently establish the clinical boundary.
Vendor-documented editing options
exocad documents adding points to assist a misdetected line, clearing an erroneous initial selection and using Correct/Draw to draw or edit it. The same manual describes undo/redo and separate scan-repair functions. Confirm the matching controls in the installed release.
These capabilities serve different purposes. Editing a selected line is not the same as modifying scan geometry. Do not treat a repaired surface as evidence that an unclear original record has been clinically resolved. Keep the original state and describe any changed copy.
Diagnostic sequence
- Confirm the correct tooth, current record and revision are active.
- Determine whether the problem is an erroneous selection or insufficient boundary evidence.
- When the approved boundary is established, consult the current manual for the appropriate detection/editing control.
- Return a marked view of the revised selection for the responsible review.
- If scan geometry changed, identify that change separately and ask which dependent checks are required.
Illustrative note: “The selection has been revised at the marked area against the clarified reference; scan geometry was not changed.” Use that statement only if those facts are established.
Limitations and Louie validation
Louie should validate the displayed controls and review sequence on an authorized training record, naming the DentalCAD release and whether scan editing was involved. No specific release range or clinical parameter is asserted by this guide.
The selected boundary, restorative review and production release remain separate decisions. A corrected-looking line is not evidence of fit, patient outcome or acceptance of every downstream output.
