Name the orientation you mean
A reviewer changing the camera view, a designer positioning reference records and a production operator placing an output in a blank answer different questions. Write which role is being changed before asking someone to rotate the case.
This is a responsibility and change-control guide. The mesh-units guide covers intake scale/orientation observations. Neither guide establishes a clinical jaw relationship or a universal manufacturing orientation. A familiar screenshot is not proof that another team's placement is correct.
Recognize the separate production task
exocad's ChairsideCAD page describes InCAD Nesting as positioning restorations in milling blanks. This is a public statement about that module's role; it does not establish that every license includes it or approve any material/device combination.
Ask the production team which application owns placement for the actual route and which current manufacturer instructions apply. Do not change design geometry merely to imitate the production view, or assume a CAD display orientation is a ready-to-use CAM instruction.
Define the change and its review impact
Record the original output and the requested operation, then have the responsible operator state whether it changes only viewing/placement, transforms delivered coordinates or edits the designed surface. Those distinctions require observation in the actual application.
If a new surface, output revision or manufacturing route is produced, identify dependent review rather than carrying approval forward silently. Where only a production placement changes, the production owner still needs to evaluate its applicable process requirements.
| Check | Evidence or next decision |
|---|---|
| View change | Which display changed? Is the underlying delivered file unchanged? |
| Record relationship | Which reference and authority govern positioning? Held review if unclear. |
| Placement change | Production application, operator and current material/equipment instructions. |
| New output | Actual changed file/revision; reviewed dependencies; superseded output list. |
Work through a handoff example
Use this request: “We reviewed output R03. Please identify the receiving application, whether its view or blank placement is the issue, and whether a new file is needed. If you need a transformed R04, identify the operation owner, required coordinate convention and affected review. We will label R03 as superseded only after the replacement is agreed.” This is an original handoff example, not a recommended production orientation.
Hypothetical example: a receiver asks for a differently oriented file because a CAM preview is inconvenient. The designer asks whether the operator needs a display adjustment, a placement change or a transformed deliverable. The team records the required file role before creating a replacement.
If a derivative is requested, keep its identity and purpose distinct and ask the receiver to verify it. No illustration here supplies a milling angle or printing recommendation. An output importing successfully is a receiving observation, not manufacturing release.
Validation and limits
Louie validation pending — unverified locally. Louie and the production owner must validate actual application behavior, changes to geometry versus placement, material/equipment requirements and approval impact. No preferred milling angle, print orientation, support strategy or Pristine manufacturing capability is asserted.
Use internal references in the blank worksheet. Examples are hypothetical; applicable instructions and responsible approvals govern real work.
