First answer

Check what duplication was intended to copy. exocad documents a new job/project with selectable scan and construction-information copying, while saved DentalCAD scenes are not automatically duplicated. A new job with inputs is not automatically a continuation of the old design.

Diagnostic sequence

Record the original job, duplicate reference and intended purpose before opening or changing either design. Identify the copy options selected and which artifacts are actually present.

Goal: a fresh job using selected inputsVerify copied input roles and the new job definition; do not expect the prior design state automatically.
Goal: a design variant or continuationAsk the provider which scene workflow supports that purpose and the intended parameters.
Scene exists but output appears olderUse the existing saved-scene/output mismatch guide; that is a different comparison from scene absence after duplication.

Why the distinction matters

DentalDB documentation explains that scenes are excluded to avoid inconsistency where a duplicate's job definition changes. Copying scans or construction information does not demonstrate that the design scene and new job parameters are aligned.

Preserve the original job and its verified scene. Do not use renaming or an unreviewed file copy as proof that the duplicate is an accepted continuation.

Worked variant question

A hypothetical designer duplicates J01 to J02 and changes the job definition for a variant. J02 contains selected copied inputs but no prior scene. The useful provider question is whether the intended variant workflow supports the J01 scene with J02's changed parameters, rather than how to force a scene to appear.

The source includes a manual scene-copy tip for design variants. That tip needs workflow-specific provider review here; this guide does not turn it into a general repair recipe.

Confirm the resulting artifact roles

After a provider-approved workflow, record which scene belongs to which job definition, what review it has received and which outputs were generated from it. If scene continuation remains unresolved, label the duplicate as a new input/job setup rather than an approved continuation.

Limitations and Louie validation

Louie validation pending — unverified locally. Louie/provider must confirm installed Duplicate options and whether a specific scene-variant workflow is permitted with the intended job parameters. No automatic continuation or cross-version compatibility established.

Use internal references in the blank worksheet. Examples are hypothetical; applicable instructions and responsible approvals govern real work.
