Confirm the approved relationship
Identify the current arch records, alignment/bite reference, case stage and design revision. Ask the responsible team which relationship is approved for this stage. A newer attachment or more plausible visual contact does not automatically supersede the earlier record.
If the approved reference is missing or disputed, hold the affected work and request clarification. A software alignment operation cannot independently decide the correct clinical relationship.
Vendor-documented alignment route
exocad describes loading a new alignment mesh through Tools → Add/Remove Mesh and repeating matching through the wizard. Its documentation notes a choice of reference for global positioning, with implications for orientation relative to the Virtual Articulator.
Use the current manual for the installed release and supported case. The workflow is documented by the vendor but has not been tested here on Pristine’s installation. Do not assume that re-matching leaves every earlier review decision unchanged.
Diagnostic sequence
- Establish whether the concern is alignment, conflicting references or insufficient records.
- Obtain confirmation of the governing relationship and intended replacement record.
- Preserve the earlier state and identify the authorized new alignment input.
- Consult the documented matching/positioning workflow in the installed release.
- Ask the responsible reviewer to assess the resulting relationship and identify affected design checks before release.
Illustrative clarification: “Please confirm which alignment record governs this stage; the current references disagree. The relationship-dependent output remains held.” This requests an approval, not a clinical correction.
Limitations and Louie validation
Louie should validate the software path, reference-selection behavior and revised review package using authorized practice data. Record the DentalCAD release and any relevant configuration; no tested version range is claimed.
An alignment change may affect contact review, orientation or dependent design outputs. Identify those dependencies and issue a traceable revision. A successful matching operation is not manufacturing release or evidence of a patient outcome.
